The truth about Scams

The truth about Scams

When I was in college, I went to visit my classmate’s house in Laguna, while I was there he told me that we can actually walk going thru the woods behind their home and end up at the backside of the New Bilibid Prison, this is one of the biggest prison cell in the Philippines. So being young and adventurous, I agreed. It was morning that time but because of the thickness of the woods, I felt like it was late afternoon and about to get dark. After about 15 minutes of walking, lo and behold the New Bilibid Prison – at first it did not look like a prison because what I saw was a beautiful garden, like you were looking at your grandmother’s backyard where all types of vegetables and fruits were planted. Apart from a few people who are wearing orange uniform with a P at the back, you would not know that this is actually a prison.  And you can see them in full view from the outside of their enclosed perimeter.

But my friend said, this is where they put those under minimum security. That explains why the only thing that separates us from them is a very thin wall, with some chicken wires.

Then he said, “Do you want to see the maximum security?” I said, “YES!”, so we continued walking, after a while, a HUGE and very high white wall appeared. When I looked up, I spied on guards carrying big guns across their shoulders. The place had an eerie feeling into it,  so  quiet but you can feel there was an activity going on behind those walls. I imagined men and maybe women inside whose lives were ruined by their ego and senses.

I can think of a number of reasons why people go to prison; it may be because of drugs, murder, theft, homicide, rape, assault, scam or fraud etc. These people have exchanged their personal freedom by committing acts detrimental to society. But as I think deeper, I believe that there is another prison wall that is sturdier and solidly built than the ones I saw.

The prison wall of our mind

We humans are so powerful that among all the species in the planet, we have the biggest size of frontal lobe in relation to the brain. You see our frontal lobe is the seat of our conscious mind; this is where all human inventions, physical and non-physical are first created. It’s like the starter in a motor engine. That device you are using right now to read this article started from the frontal lobe.  Those square or rectangular objects with 4 wheels that we call cars started from this part of the brain. In short we can co-create our own life and we were given the free will to do it. You know this is true because if not, we would have been made into robots.

The problem is we have turned this power to create against us; we built giant walls around our mind. We are the real scammers in our life. We imprisoned our capacity to live a healthy, vibrant life. We created self-limiting thoughts like worry, fear, envy, jealousy, hatred.

Self-limiting thoughts like
“I can’t do it, I’m not smart enough.”
“Life is hard, Life is unfair.”
“I have no money; I’m born poor and probably die poor.”
“I will never get ahead, this is my lot in life and I can’t do about it.”

As we keep thinking these kinds of thought everyday of our lives we have hardened it and stack it on top of the other to build this giant wall in our mind. Then we lay blame it on other people for making us “think” this way. If it’s not your poor parents fault, it’s the corrupt government officials or maybe its Aunt Jenny who was always putting you down, or perhaps it’s your uncaring spouse, whatever it is, we put the blame on others on why you think negatively in life. We swindled ourselves from living an extra-ordinary life.

BRING DOWN THE WALL

You are confined only by the walls you build yourself. It was you all along because of the way you think. You change the way you think, you change your life. You can bring down the wall that have kept you imprisoned for so many years and live a life of freedom to do whatever you want, to achieve anything you desire.

Think about this, when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, it was not just the physical construct that was brought down but also the injustices and negative impact it made to humanity
The same is true with our minds, if we simply tear down the barrier we created from sadness to joy, fear to love, poverty to abundance, we can become free, your world will become bigger.
Sometimes we act like the person who we are not. We think poorly of ourselves, we act like we are limited and we feel unworthy of all the riches the world can give us.

May I suggest something?

Stop scamming yourself to greatness.

We are created perfect. There is a good life behind the wall. If you can’t break it, go over it, go under, or jump on top of it. Just don’t live behind those walls.

Sure there are plenty of scammers out there, people who give out false promise to other in order to gain something and we advise you to be wary, learn more about their offer before taking action.
If you find people doing these unscrupulous acts or notice something illegal with what they are doing, report them to the authorities, or block them from social media. These types of people are very dangerous.  Do not trust them.

But you also need to make sure that you don’t fall prey to the biggest scammer of them all, and that’s the one standing in front of you in the mirror.

Don’t get scammed by you!

How do you know you’re getting scammed? Well that’s easy; just look at the life your living for the past 5 to 10 years, if what you’re doing right now is not getting you to where you wanted in life, your being scammed. If you’ve been working for so long and the only people who are getting rich are the ones at the top (ehem your boss), your being scammed.

If you bought into the idea that the only way to get ahead in life is, “study hard, get good grades and look for a company that will take care of you for 40 years then you retire and die.” That’s a scam!

It may be true in the industrial age, but in today’s information age, that kind of thinking is no longer true.

So I invite you to study, study yourself, study what you have been thought, not because it is old and worked before is true and legit today.

Remember, a danger foreseen is half-avoided.
